About This Spot

Walking into El Patron, nestled on Albany Street in the heart of Cazenovia, you immediately sense a space that balances warmth and ease. The hum of friendly chatter blends with the inviting aromas that float from the kitchen—spices, fresh herbs, and the subtle char of grilled fare. It’s a place where time gently slows, giving way to moments shared over rich, authentic Mexican flavors served generously and with heart.

The atmosphere strikes a thoughtful balance: casual yet thoughtfully curated, with touches that reflect deep respect for tradition without feeling overly formal. Comfortable seating invites lingering conversations, while the attentive, approachable service ensures you never feel rushed, even during busier spells. The setting feels like a quiet celebration of good company and spirited food.

Behind the scenes, the kitchen crafts a menu that honors classic Mexican dishes with hearty portions and vibrant flavor profiles. Whether it’s the earthiness of mole sauce draped over tender beef tips or the crispy, well-stuffed chimichangas that have quickly become a local favorite, each bite carries a sense of care. Even the simple pleasures—like the creamy cheese dip or the bright freshness of guacamole—offer those moments where flavors linger just a bit longer.

El Patron is more than a place to eat; it’s a gathering spot where the details matter without drawing attention to themselves. From thoughtfully selected imported beers to those comforting touches in the dining room, it’s clear the owners and staff take pride in crafting an experience that invites you to slow down, savor, and connect. For anyone seeking a quiet yet lively local haven to enjoy Mexican food that feels both genuine and generous, El Patron is a quietly confident choice in Cazenovia’s dining scene.

Finally got to stop in and check this highly regarded place out... and it met the mark. Really, really good Mexican food! Service was a little slow, but I think we just got there in time for a rush. But everything came out together. Prices are a little steep, 4 of us ate for $100, and only 1 left with leftovers. Our typical haunt is maybe $15-20 less, and we almost always all leave with tomorrow's lunch. Portions here are smaller, and they DO charge for chips and salsa (something most places comp). All in all, we will be back, but I don't think it's going to replace our usual spot.

Excellent food and service in a very clean restaurant. I ordered one of the daily specials, which was a beef tip chimichanga with mole sauce. My friend ordered the other daily special, which was a shrimp chimichanga. Both were delicious. There were lots of large shrimp in her chimichanga. And mine was smothered in one of the most delicious mole sauces I’ve ever had.

Amazing food. I had the ground beef chimichangas and they did NOT disappoint!!! Great atmosphere and friendly service in a comfortable dining room environment. Highly recommend stopping in.

As you can see, my phone indeed eat first! My father and I had a lunch date here to check out the new place and we loved it! Great atmosphere with authentic food and very affordable prices! The owners and staff were very accommodating and SUPER friendly. The portions were huge and I still cannot get over the cheese dip… SOOOO yummy! We will definitely be visiting again!

Wow! What a gem! After living in the area for almost 2 years, coming across this place is a dream. Super authentic delicious food, great portions, and the place is a beautiful welcoming space. Clearly the owners put effort into designing the details.

Pretty solid. Authentic Mexican. Have been here a handful of times. Good portions. Nice to see some real food in town.

Authenticity to the max. That guacamole is the very best I have had in a long while! And it's close to home.

1. Food was good and had a normal variety, but mind they don’t have a GF menu yet. You can choose between salsa, guacamole or queso for your chips and starter, which was the first time I’ve seen that at a Mexican place. 2. Nicely decorated and has seating imported from Mexico. 3. People were nice and attentive to needs. 4. Timing was good and we had enough time to converse. Just keep in mind that they still have the new restraint energy and they got plenty busy during prime dinner time this Saturday, but we got there at 5:30pm. 5. Parking was fine, but just keep they’re a main street location and you’ll have to seek street side parking.
